BAKU. - President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received FIFA president Joseph Blatter and UEFA president Michel Platini on Monday.
Aliyev congratulated Joseph Blatter on his re-election as president of FIFA. President Ilham Aliyev underlined the importance of the fact that Blatter made his first visit to Azerbaijan after his re-election as FIFA president.
He thanked Blatter as he visited Azerbaijan to attend events on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijani football. Touching upon Joseph Blatter’s election as president of FIFA with great support of the world football community, Aliyev described this as a result of the fruitful activity of FIFA under his leadership, APA agency reports.
Later the officials attended the opening ceremony of Dalga Arena Stadium, which will host the U-17 Women’s Football Championship.
Construction of the stadium was launched on April 24 in 2010. The stadium has 6,500 seats.
