World leaders have welcomed the return of the US to the Paris Agreement, AP reported.

The UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed Biden's decision to join the deal, changing key Trump policies.

Re-acceding to the Paris Agreement is very positive news, Johnson wrote tweeted noting that the UK looks forward to working with the Biden administration in this regard.

Macron also tweeted his joy noting that with Biden they will be stronger to face the nowadays challenges.

An agreement signed in the French capital in 2015 obliges countries to put forward plans to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, which is generated by burning fossil fuels.

Former President Donald Trump has questioned scientific warnings about human-induced global warming and has accused other countries of using the deal as a club to harm the US. Meanwhile, Biden has put the fight against climate change at the center of his presidential campaign.
