The Rio de Janeiro authorities have decided to cancel the world-famous annual carnival in 2021, city mayor Eduardo Paes tweeted.
The carnival was scheduled to be held in July if progress was made in vaccinating the population.
According to the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, the celebration requires a lot of preparation, which seems impossible at the moment.
