Spokesperson for Greece’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alexandros Papaioannou says Athens has made it clear to Ankara that the January 25 meeting is not ‘talks’, Kathimerini reported.

“They are contacts. There is no obligation between the two parties. There is no third party. Briefings aren’t being held in regard to the content of the initial contacts,” he said, talking about the 61st round of talks to be held Istanbul following the four-year interval.

Papaioannou also said the talks aren’t binding and the aim is to explore ‘the points of contact’ for possible talks over delimitation of the exclusive economic zone in the Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean.
