An explosion took place in an apartment building in Baku, and there might be people under the debris, RIA Novosti reported, citing the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan.

“An explosion took place in an apartment building in the Khirdalan city of Absheron District, rescuers removed a woman and a child from the debris. The search and rescue efforts continue. It is assumed that there are still people under the ruins. The reasons for the explosion are being clarified,” the ministry reported.

Eyewitnesses told RIA Novosti that after the explosion, a fire broke out in an apartment, and the wave broke the glass windows of apartments in tall buildings.
