Armenian police have provided new details about the incident that took place today in Yerevan.

On the morning of January 27, police officers visited one of the mansions on Ghapantsyan Street of Yerevan to find the man who was wanted. Seeing the police officers, the man fired gunshots into the air, after which he kept his 3-year-old son with him and threatened to hurt him, if he was apprehended.

Chief of Police of Armenia Vahe Ghazaryan, First Deputy Chief of Police Aram Hovhannisyan, Head of the General Department of Criminal Police Vardan Vardanyan and the heads and officers of various police units arrived at the scene of the incident. Ghazaryan negotiated with the armed man for nearly two hours, after which the man put the gun down and released the child. The wanted man was apprehended and charged with committing crimes under the elements of three articles of the Criminal Code of Armenia. There are no victims. Preliminary investigation is underway.
