There is no such issue at all, and the authorities of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) have refuted all the rumors about that. This is what Spokesperson of the President of Artsakh Vahram Poghosyan told 168.am in response to the news spread on social networks according to which Azerbaijani refugees might return to the settlements near Stepanakert.
“There is an impression that not only the Azerbaijani side, but also certain destructive forces are consistently trying to make the public panic. This absurd news might also be spread by Azerbaijan’s special services. In any case, the issue of disinformation is in the focus of the authorities, and the National Security Service is dealing with this matter,” Poghosyan said.
According to Poghosyan, the President has already given a clear response to this issue.
“Artsakh can never be a part of Azerbaijan. Artsakh will continue to build its independent state with the security guarantees of the Russian peacekeeping contingent. The return of Azerbaijani refugees to the territories under Artsakh’s control is simply ruled out, and this issue hasn’t been discussed with the authorities of Artsakh. We understand the consequences very well, and the authorities of Artsakh won’t agree with this. I repeat that this issue isn’t and can’t be on the agenda, and those who are deliberately spreading disinformation are committing a criminal act,” Poghosyan said.
