The joint Russian-Turkish center for monitoring the ceasefire in the Nagorno-Karabakh [(Artsakh)] conflict zone has opened in Kiyamaddinli, in Azerbaijan's Aghdam region, Interfax reported.

"The center will collect, summarize, and verify information on the observance of the ceasefire regime and the actions in violation of the agreements reached by the parties," the Russian Defense Ministry told reporters on Saturday.

According to the ministry, this monitoring will be carried out by way of drones, as well as the evaluation of data received from some other sources.

The staff of this center is evenly represented—with up to 60 servicemen from each side, and it has direct lines of communication with the military command bodies of the parties to the Karabakh conflict and the control centers of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.
