The US embassy in Armenia has not confirmed the Azerbaijani media publications on the alleged statements made by the US ambassador to that country, Lee Litzenberger.

Earlier, a number of Azerbaijani media outlets reported on the results of the ambassador's meeting with the Azerbaijani Minister of Economy, Mikayil Jabbarov, during which the ambassador allegedly "congratulated on ensuring the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan."

In this regard, Armenian News-NEWS.am petitioned to the US Embassy in Yerevan, asking it to clarify whether these statements attributed to Ambassador Litzenberger were accurate.

But as a reflection of its official position, the US embassy in Armenia just limited itself to a post on the Twitter account of the US Embassy in Baku.

“Amb. Litzenberger met with Economy Minister Jabbarov Wednesday to discuss US-Azerbaijan economic cooperation. He noted that economic reconstruction and reconciliation in support of a peaceful negotiated settlement in NK [(Nagorno-Karabakh)] will benefit all countries in the region,” reads the aforesaid post.
