The Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center of Armenia has issued the following press release:
“The month of February began with irregularly high temperature in the country.
In the period between February 1 and 3, the average daily temperature across the country was above the norm by 4-6 degrees, and by 8-12 degrees in the Lori, Tavush and Syunik Provinces.
The irregular high temperature will not only be maintained, but will also increase in the next few days.
Starting from February 8, a heat wave will penetrate from the northern regions of the Sahara Desert into the territory of Armenia, as a result of which the temperature will go up by 4-6 degrees in the period between February 8 and 9.
Armenia’s meteorologists predict record-setting high temperatures (up to +20…+23 degrees) in the valley areas of Syunik and Tavush Provinces.
On those days, the temperature in Ararat Plain and Yerevan will go up to +12…+14 degrees, which is also a very high indicator.”
