YEREVAN. – The American University of Armenia has launched a one-year educational program in hotel business management, which provides good opportunities for people to improve their skills. Zarmine Zeytuntsyan, former chairperson of the State Tourism Committee of Armenia, told this to a press conference on Friday.

She explained that preliminary courses in Accounting, Management, English, and Mathematics will be held for people without an academic education. After that, participants in these courses will gain specialized profile knowledge: corporate communication, strategic planning, etc.

Zeytuntsyan stressed that in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and the crisis caused by the recent Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) war, the task is to maintain and develop Armenia’s personnel potential, which will enable to recover in a few years the losses due to tourism restrictions—and which last year amounted to about $2 billion.

And Mekhak Apresyan, President of the Armenian Tourism Federation, added that this organization he leads will continue its two-week training programs, explaining that very high-level trainings are held for tour guides as well.
