The Police of Armenia on Sunday received a report from the Masis town hospital that a dead little boy was brought to them, according to shamshyan.com.

The police and investigators found out that the boy was Styopa S., 2, a resident of Ararat Province.

According to the preliminary conclusion of the forensic doctor, the information of the police and investigators was confirmed that the child had been beaten, as traces of bruises were found on the body.

The child's mother and stepfather were brought to the police department. They stated that on February 6, at around 8pm, the child had accidentally taken two sleeping pills at home, and on Sunday at around noon, when they had noticed that the child was not responding, they had taken him to the Masis medical center.

Police and investigators also have information that the child's mother and grandmother had beaten the child, after which they had given him sleeping pills.

A criminal case has been launched under the Criminal Code article on causing death by negligence.

A forensic medical examination of the body has been ordered.

But after the forensic medical examination, this crime could be commuted to a murder case.
