German Wintershall Dea, one of Gazprom's financial partners in Nord Stream 2, has completed investments in the construction of the gas pipeline, allocating a total of 730 million euros to finance it, the company said in a report.

“The group's participation in the Nord Stream 2 project is limited to providing loans along with four other European energy companies - Engie, OMV, Shell, and Uniper.

Nord Stream 2 envisages the construction of two lines of a gas pipeline with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany. It is being implemented by Nord Stream 2 AG with the sole shareholder - Gazprom. European partners - Royal Dutch Shell, OMV, Engie, Uniper, and Wintershall - are financing the project by 50%, that is, up to 950 million euros each.

In 2020, OMV and Shell announced the full completion of their obligations to finance Nord Stream 2, while the Austrian OMV indicated that it had invested 730 million euros in the project under the loan. All foreign partners in the Nord Stream 2 project directed funding for its construction simultaneously, at the request of Nord Stream 2 AG.

The project is actively opposed by the United States, which is promoting its liquefied natural gas to the EU, as well as Ukraine and a number of European countries.
