Princess Latifa has asked the UK police to re-investigate her older sister's abduction in Cambridge over 20 years ago, BBC reported.

In a letter, Latifa informs Cambridgeshire police that this may help free Princess Shamsa, who was captured by their father's orders.

Shamsa, then only 18 years old and now 39, has not appeared in public since.

The Dubai government did not respond to the BBC's request for comment.

In 2019, a high court judge ruled that Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum had abducted both daughters and held them against their will.

Last week, BBC Panorama showed videos that Latifa secretly recorded on a phone given to her, in which she described her father holding her hostage after a failed escape attempt in 2018.

In August 2000, about two months after fleeing the Longcross estate in Surrey, Shamsa was forcibly taken out of Cambridge, flown by helicopter to France, and then on a private jet back to Dubai.
