YEREVAN. – The opposition Homeland Salvation Movement’s rally demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has kicked off on Marshal Baghramyan Avenue in the capital Yerevan, outside the National Assembly of Armenia.

On Thursday, the opposition marched from Liberty Square to Marshal Baghramyan Avenue and announced that they were going to hold a 24-hour demonstration there. They have set up tents and stoves and spent the past two nights on the aforesaid avenue.

The opposition held a rally on Marshal Baghramyan Avenue on Friday, too, then marched to the presidential residence. Several representatives of the Homeland Salvation Movement met with President Armen Sarkissian and presented him their demand. They demand that the President not sign PM Pashinyan's petition submitted to him in order to sack Onik Gasparyan from the post of Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, and instead send this petition to the Constitutional Court.
