The events that occurred on March 1, 2008, as a result of which we had innocent victims, are a pain for all of us. Armenia’s President Armen Sarkissian on Monday noted this in a message on the anniversary aforesaid events in the capital Yerevan.

"Political struggle must not go beyond the bounds of legitimacy, it must not lead to shocks and instability, disagreements must not turn into a climate of intolerance, mutual hatred—especially into confrontation and division.

I once again call on everyone for tolerance and solidarity.

We need unity and solidarity.

Especially today, unity and tolerance are vital for our state and people," the message also reads.

In addition, on behalf of President Sarkissian, flowers were laid this morning at the Myasnikyan statue to pay tribute to the victims of the tragedy that occurred on March 1, 2008 in Armenia’s capital.
