The Ministry of Health of Armenia calls on citizens to return to the strict regime of wearing face masks since more and more people have been testing positive for the coronavirus over the past two weeks. This is what Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan said during today’s question-and-answer session with government officials in the National Assembly, responding to a question from deputy of the opposition Bright Armenia Party Hrant Aivazyan, who asked why police officers don’t fine citizens for not wearing masks.

The health minister assured that the Ministry of Health always follows the advice given by international professional authorities. “Wearing face masks is still a very important and preventive measure,” she said and recalled that there were great indicators in the fight against the pandemic in the fall when there were quite a lot of coronavirus cases and the people paid heed to the ministry’s calls and started wearing face masks.

“People started feeling at ease when the indicators were low, and there are many people who don’t wear masks even today, but we have been observing a rise in the number of cases over the past two weeks. I ask and call on everyone to return to the strict regime of wearing face masks so that Armenia can try to prevent the spread of the virus,” the minister said.
