Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate alleged war crimes both by Hamas and Israel itself - anti-Semitism, Cursor reported.

Other Israeli politicians reacted as well. The president of the country Reuven Rivlin called the decision scandalous and added that Israel is proud of its soldiers.

Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi said the decision was a political attempt by ICC Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda to try to set priorities for her future successor, Karim Khan.

As reported earlier, the ICC is launching a formal investigation into Israel's war crimes. Thus, the ICC prosecutor Bensouda decided to officially launch the investigation of Israel's war crimes in the Palestinian territories. This investigation will cover crimes within the jurisdiction of the Court, which were allegedly committed starting from 13 June 2014.
