The Armenian generals are very restrained. The second president of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, expressed such view at Thursday’s press conference for Russian media, Sputnik-Armenia reports.

He assumes that the generals do not want even their smallest action to be perceived as an attempt at a military coup. "[But] there is no need to be afraid of the phrase 'military coup.' There are many cases in history when a military coup has enabled to preserve the statehood and ensure the development of the economy. For example, the case of South Korea in the 60s of the last century, or what happened in Egypt in our days," Kocharyan explained.

The Armenian ex-President added, however, that he did not want his words to be perceived as an attempt to drag anyone anywhere. His opinion, as he mentioned, is a purely analytical substantiation.
