There were no separate talks on cooperation with third President Serzh Sargsyan. The second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, expressed such an opinion at Thursday’s press conference for Russian media, Sputnik-Armenia reports.

He noted that the former ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA)—chaired by Sargsyan— participates in the current protests, is part of the opposition movement which he also supports, but there were no discussions of collaboration in another format. "I refrain from such discussions with all parties, so as not to be perceived as a parallel process," Kocharyan said.

He did not comment on the accusations that Serzh Sargsyan was one of those who are guilty of incumbent PM Nikol Pashinyan's coming to power in 2018. "We always try to look for culprits. The events of 2018 are incomprehensible to me. I did not think that it was possible to manipulate our people like that; that the use of technologies can have such an effective impact on the Armenian society," Kocharyan said.

On the other hand, according to him, he criticized the RPA when it was the ruling party. "There were problems that led to those processes. But the use of technology, the existence of a geopolitical component, the active intervention of foreign, non-Armenian forces were also obvious here," Robert Kocharyan said.
