Media Advocate Initiative posted the following on its Facebook page in regard to the incident that took place between a journalist and deputy of the My Step faction of the National Assembly of Armenia Andranik Kocharyan at Yerablur Military Pantheon today:

“Andranik Kocharyan screamed at a journalist and pushed the latter

Deputy of the National Assembly of Armenia Andranik Kocharyan screamed at journalist Ani Gevorgyan who was asking Sasun Mikayelyan a question and tried to obstruct the journalist’s professional activities by pushing her.

Let us mention that Andranik Kocharyan has stood out with his rude behavior towards journalists several times, and this is not the way a Member of Parliament should behave.

Media Advocate Initiative condemns such behavior of a Member of Parliament. A Member of Parliament does not have the right to treat journalists (carrying out their professional activities) like this. Such cases must be strictly ruled out. We urge the journalistic community to stand united as one and support their colleague.”
