Former President Donald Trump's lawyers on Friday sent letters asking them to stop using the former president's name and likeness in fundraising and merchandise calls, a Trump adviser said Saturday, NBC News reported.

Lawyers sent letters to the Republican National Committee, the National Republican Congressional Committee, and the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Since Trump stepped down, committees have referred to him repeatedly in letters asking for donations, hoping to leverage the president's popularity among certain segments of the party to bolster their morale as they work to regain control of the House and Senate in 2022.
