Today at around 9:40 p.m. the driver of a car of an unknown brand and with an unknown license plate number ran over two pedestrians and fled the scene, leaving them helpless, shamshyan.com reports.

One of the pedestrians died on the spot, while the other was transferred to Armenia Medical Center after paramedics said the pedestrian was in extremely grave condition.

The injured is 34-year-old citizen of Yerevan Edgar Mayilyan, and the deceased pedestrian is his father, Samvel Mayilyan, whose age is being specified.

A criminal case has been launched under the elements of articles of the Criminal Code of Armenia (road accident that negligently caused death of a person, fleeing the scene of the incident).

Police and investigators are taking necessary operational intelligence and investigative actions to identify the car and the driver who fled the scene.

Many citizens who live next to the scene of the incident said they have been witnessing road accidents ever since the road was built since there are no signs and lighting.
