The Chamber of Architects of Ankara is calling for suspension of construction at the site of tombs of Armenians and Catholics, Bianet reports.

The Chamber stated that the construction of the state İller Bank in Ulus district is illegal and added that workers have detected relics of humans that were probably at the cemetery belonging to a group of minorities.

According to Chairman of the Chamber of Architects Tezakan Karakus Kandan, the experts of the city’s museum of civilizations of Anatolia took the human bones detected during construction for expert examination. “Pouring concrete on those who once lived in Anatolia is inhumane, regardless of their religion, language or race,” he added.

Kandan said the authorities committed a crime by giving the green light to the construction and violated the law on preservation of cultural and natural values and added that the Chamber intends to apply to the court.
