The prosecutor is trying to exert pressure on the court. This is what second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan’s attorney Aram Vardevanyan told reporters today, commenting on prosecutor Petros Petrosyan’s intention to submit a motion to split the parts with regard to the accused-on-trial into separate proceedings.

The reason for Petrosyan’s “just frustration” was the postponement of the court hearing for the fourth time in a row due to Armen Gevorgyan’s health problems, the absence of attorney Erik Aleksanyan who had attended another court hearing and Seyran Ohanyan who dared to be admitted to a hospital.

Vardevayan stated that even though the Criminal Procedure Code allows this, it is rarely applied. He added that this was the case for the late Manvel Grigoryan who had to be absent often due to his health problems.

“In this case, there are no such grounds. I believe the prosecutor made the statement for the sake of making a statement and to exert pressure on the court to a certain extent. He simply had to wish Seyran Ohanyan good health,” Vardevanyan said.
