The Kremlin considers Bashar al-Assad to be the legitimate leader of Syria and is making efforts to resolve the political track, Russian press secretary Dmitry Peskov noted, RIA Novosti reports.

“We are convinced that Assad is the legitimate leader of the Syrian state, we are making a hefty effort to give impetus to work on the constitution and, in general, to advance the Syrian settlement along the political track,” Peskov said.
