Spain hopes that the number of foreign tourists this year will rise to half, to a pandemic level, Reuters reported referring to Minister of Tourism Reyes Maroto.

According to him, perhaps the ideal goal is to attract half of the tourists we had in 2019. This would be an achievement for the industry.

In 2019, Spain ranked second in the world in terms of the number of foreign visitors - more than 80 million people. In 2020, that figure fell by more than 80% to 19 million tourists, the lowest since 1969.

Spain is among the countries actively pursuing the preparation of international vaccine certificates for the summer season.
