US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned his German counterpart Heiko Maas about the likelihood of imposing sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

Reaffirming US President Joe Biden's concerns about the pipeline from Russia to Germany, Blinken said he told Maas in a private meeting that the companies involved in the project risked US sanctions.

Blinken declined to provide details, but said the United States is closely monitoring the pipeline, which is almost complete.
