The EU-Armenia Partnership Committee in Trade Configuration today held its third session chaired by Deputy Minister of Economy of Armenia Varos Simonyan from the Armenian side and by Deputy Head of Unit of the European Commission Directorate-General for Trade Marco Diercop from the European Union’s side. Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin delivered an opening speech.

During the session, the parties discussed the actions being taken within the scope of cooperation under Trade and Trade-related Issues of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement and the relevant road maps in the following sectors: trade in goods, customs, technical barriers to trade, sanitary and phytosanintary measures, trade in services, establishment and electronic trade, etc.

The parties also presented and discussed issues related to the implementation of provisions regarding the “Brandy” geographical indication stipulated by Article 237 of the Agreement and the future actions. The current developments in the sector of trade and investments, the EU’s monitoring within the scope of the GSP+ special trade regime and other issues related to the Armenia-EU cooperation were also on the agenda.
