YEREVAN. – A silent protest is taking place in front of the UN office in Yerevan.

These protesters demand the return of more than 300 Armenian POWs and civilians who are held hostage in Azerbaijan after the recent Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) war.

An earlier statement issued by the organizers of this protest said that thousands of human rights advocates will raise this issue on the same day also in Toronto, Montreal, Berlin, Warsaw, Rome, Los Angeles, New York, Geneva, Houston, and Paris—taking to the streets and demanding the return of Armenian POWs

As per this statement, the Azerbaijani government denies the fact that six months after the war, hundreds of Armenians are being held in Azerbaijani prisons in violation of the Geneva Conventions, as well as of the November 10, 2020 trilateral ceasefire agreement between Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia.

The protesters will continue their demonstration in front of the Russian embassy in Yerevan, too, demanding to force Azerbaijan to abide by the terms of the aforesaid trilateral agreement and return all Armenian captives.
