Minister of Justice of Armenia Rustam Badasyan today posted the following on his Facebook page:

“Today the government approved the bill for establishment of a Ministry of Internal Affairs. I would like to remind that this issue is part of the strategy for police reforms. The establishment of the ministry will ensure parliamentary and civilian oversight over police activities, unified development of a sector-specific policy, separation of civic and police functions and implementation of ongoing police reforms, which will essentially contribute to the strengthening of the legal system.

The Police, Police Troops, the Migration and Citizenship Service and the Training Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (as a state non-commercial organization) will be subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.”
