TBILISI. – The welcoming ceremony for Armenia’s President Armen Sarkissian, who has arrived in Georgia on an official visit, was held Thursday with the honor guard at the residence of the President of Georgia, the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reports from Tbilisi.

Also, the national anthems of Armenia and Georgia were performed by the military orchestra.

After the official welcoming ceremony, the Armenian President made a note in the book of honorary guests of the Presidential Palace of Georgia. "I express my sincere satisfaction to be in neighboring and friendly Georgia again today at the invitation of Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili. I am confident that based on the results of the visit, we will further strengthen the friendship of our two peoples—for the benefit of our future generations," the Armenian President wrote.

Subsequently, a private conversation took place between Armen Sarkissian and Salome Zourabichvili. They discussed the agenda of bilateral relations, the opportunities for expanding cooperation, and regional issues and developments.

An extended meeting is also expected.

In the evening, an official dinner will be served in honor of Armenia’s President and his wife, Nouneh Sarkissian, on behalf of Salome Zourabichvili.
