Two footholds of the Russian 102nd Military Base have been established in the Syunik Province of Armenia bordering Azerbaijan and Iran. Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during Monday’s National Assembly special session convened to discuss the matter of electing a Prime Minister of Armenia.

According to him, this will serve as an additional guarantee to ensure security of not only Syunik Province, but also the whole country. Pashinyan failed to specify which international treaty has served as a ground for expansion of the functions of the Russian Military Base.
