The National Assembly of Armenia has convened a special session to consider the package of amendments to the Electoral Code in the first and second readings.
The special session has been convened at the initiative of the My Step faction.
The fact of the matter is that if the National Assembly fails to elect a Prime Minister during the special session to be held on May 10, the parliament will be dissolved, and now, before that session, the My Step faction wants to adopt the amendments to the Electoral Code on which the Venice Commission has expressed its opinion.
One amendment has already been made to the Electoral Code by which the rating procedure has been abolished and a transition has been made to the simple proportional electoral system with closed lists.
