YEREVAN. – It is ruled out that we make political decisions. Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan on Friday told this to reporters in the National Assembly of Armenia, referring to the remark that very often the prosecutor's office initiates cases, submits arrest motions—for example, in connection with the recent incidents in Syunik Province—, but the courts release those people, and whether the prosecutor's office makes political decisions.

"In this case, the steps taken were public, and anyone can put, look, and find out whether or not the criminal proceedings, criminal prosecution about it are justified. Yes, we did not agree with the vast majority of assessments given by the courts in the Syunik incidents, and now we are challenging them in superior courts," Davtyan added.

And when asked how is it that the cases presented by the prosecutor's office are "collapsing" in the courts, the prosecutor general responded: "No case has 'collapsed;' legal processes have their own logic. There is a situation where the investigator, there is a situation where the prosecutor, there is a situation where the court is at fault. My consistency is to find the one responsible in case of any omission.”
