Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General Stephane Dujarric says Israel’s security forces need to show maximum restraint.
Dujarric added that the Secretary-General is seriously concerned about the escalation of the situation in the occupied Palestinian territory and Israel, including the recent escalation in the Gaza Strip which is deepening the tension and violence in the occupied East Jerusalem. He said the irregular shelling in the direction of Israel’s settlements is inadmissible and the growing escalation needs to be stopped immediately.
The Spokesperson concluded by mentioning that the UN is working with all the relevant parties for immediate de-escalation of the situation.
