According to the information I received, now the Azerbaijanis have advanced to [village of] Ishkhanasar’s rear section, which is called "Sev Lake," and according to their GPS—as they did in Shurnukh, Vorotan [villages]—, they claim that it is their territory. Vahe Hakobyan, former governor of Syunik Province and leader of the Reviving Armenia Party, on Wednesday told this to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

"Since they [the Azerbaijanis] face no resistance at all from this side, at night they went up from the Kelbajar side, with more than 200 servicemen with full combat equipment, cut off the road from Sev lakes to Goris [town]; and according to the information I received, they have also surrounded our outpost there.

When the light came on in the morning, they [the locals] saw that there were Azerbaijanis from all sides. They [the Azerbaijanis] have even advanced another 3 km toward Armenia from the GPS point they noted themselves. Now the Russians [the peacekeepers] have already reached [there]; they are negotiating, as far as I know," he added.

Hakobyan noted that the Azerbaijanis will always advance like this. "If [this] tolerance continues, they will come, take [it], and cut [it] off from Khachik village. It’s not just Syunik; Vayots Dzor [Province] will also fall into their ‘appetite,’" he added.

The former governor of Syunik noted that 30 percent of Sev Lake was already in Azerbaijanis’ hands, and now they have taken it completely, plus they have advanced 3 km into Armenia. According to him, most of the irrigation supply of the local community is from this area. "Apart from irrigation, the drinking water of Goris is there, too. They [the Azerbaijanis] have already taken the entire lake. If it stays that way now, Goris will be left without drinking water, and this could create a catastrophic situation," added Vahe Hakobyan.
