The new commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), Lieutenant General Aleksey Avdeyev, will assume his respective duties by the end of the month. A source at the Russian Defense Ministry told about this to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Earlier, Hraparak daily of Armenia reported on the rotation of the commander of these peacekeeping forces and the respective replacement of General Rustam Muradov in this capacity.

General Avdeyev will arrive in the region soon.

He was born on May 17, 1967 in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.

Since 2019, Aleksey Avdeyev has been serving as Deputy Commander of the Southern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces.

He has fought in the hostilities in North Caucasus.
