By mid-August, over two-thirds of Spain's 47 million people will be vaccinated against COVID-19, Reuters reported referring to Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

Vaccination adoption has accelerated in recent weeks, and Spain is expected to receive 13 million doses of Pfizer vaccine next month, he said.

At least three regions - the Comunidad of Valenciana, Castile, and Leon, and Catalonia - have announced they will begin vaccinating people aged 40-50 by mid-June.

Spain has recorded 79,208 deaths from COVID-19 and more than 3.5 million cases since the start of the pandemic. But the number of cases per 100,000 people in 14 days dropped to 174 from 523 in mid-January.
