The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry considers that Yerevan's response to the process of "coordinating the Armenian-Azerbaijani border" is "improper."

"According to the trilateral statement signed on November 10, 2020, the deployment of Azerbaijani border forces is underway in the Karvachar and Lachin regions, which border Armenia. This process is routine and systematic. Azerbaijan and Armenia determine the border, and this process is carried out on the basis of the maps of the parties. Given that the two countries have not had a full state border since independence [in 1991] for obvious reasons, the parties may, of course, have differing views on technical processes. Therefore, the improper response of the Armenian side to this process, as well as its provocative statements, is surprising. We consider unacceptable the use of this process by officials in Armenia for pre-election domestic political purposes," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

It added that on Wednesday, the head of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan was sent to the region, and negotiations are currently underway between the border guards and measures are being taken to resolve the situation.
