On May 31, the Supreme Judicial Council of Armenia will promulgate the decision on instituting disciplinary proceedings against Naira Grigoryan, Judge of the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Armavir Province and daughter of ex-MP and former president of the Yerkrapah Union of Volunteer Land Defenders Manvel Grigoryan.

During a conversation with Armenian News-NEWS.am, Grigoryan’s lawyer Gurgen Grigoryan said the disciplinary proceedings concern the violation of a time limit for one of the court cases.

“The Supreme Judicial Council said my client had to examine the particular case immediately, but examined it a month later. A month later, Grigoryan scheduled a court hearing and examined the issue through a court hearing. I, for example, wouldn’t institute disciplinary proceedings on such ground. Grigoryan was guided by the interest of justice and observed all the rules prescribed by law,” the lawyer said, adding that he and his client have submitted their objection to the Council in writing.

According to Gurgen Grigoryan, the Supreme Judicial Council will reject the motion to institute disciplinary proceedings.
