China resists bilateral talks with the United States on nuclear weapons, US envoy for disarmament Robert Wood told the UN conference, Reuters reported.

Despite the sharp build-up of the Chinese nuclear arsenal, Beijing continues to resist bilateral discussions on reducing nuclear danger with Washington he said.

According to him, today Beijing does not want constructive participation or holding expert discussions, such as those that we have with Russia.

Earlier this year, Russia and the United States agreed to extend the arms control treaty for five years.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden intend to discuss arms control and security issues in person.

Wood said he hoped such bilateral discussions could lay the groundwork for nuclear disarmament and future arms control treaties.
