By the assignment of the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), one of the representatives of the Office of the Human Rights Defender paid a surprise visit to the place of detention of the Police of Artsakh in Stepanakert.

During the visit, the representative was introduced to the conditions of the place of detention and the procedures for protection of detainees’ rights and held personal talks with police officers and detainees, as reported the Office of the Human Rights Defender.

The Ombudsman’s representative particularly focused on the treatment of detainees. The representative also said the Ombudsman always keeps the proper protection of the rights of detainees in his focus and attaches importance to visits to monitor places of detention within the scope of his powers.
