Baku is ready to establish trade relations with Yerevan; but for that, Azerbaijan and Armenia must recognize each other's borders. The statement came from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

"We [Azerbaijan] are ready for free trade with the countries of the South Caucasus, including Armenia. However, this requires mutual recognition of the borders of Azerbaijan and Armenia. For our part, we are ready to recognize the borders of Armenia. But Armenia must also recognize Azerbaijan's borders, including recognizing Karabakh [(Artsakh)] as part of Azerbaijan. So, we are waiting for actions from the Armenian side," Aliyev said during a videoconference on the prospects for regional development and cooperation in the South Caucasus, Interfax-Azerbaijan reports.

According to him, 30,000 Armenians live in the Karabakh territories which are currently under the monitoring of Russian peacekeepers. "We consider them citizens of Azerbaijan, who have been brainwashed by the Armenian propaganda," the Azerbaijani president added.
