European countries are facing a shortage of skilled labor, Bloomberg reported.

The shortage of specialists in various fields is increasing because of the closed borders due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Unemployment in the European Union (EU) exceeds 7 percent.

According to experts, this situation will stabilize and return to pre-pandemic levels no earlier than 2023.

Problems with the workforce will be exacerbated when the EU launches an €800bn environmental and digital sphere assistance program. Specialized staff will be required to work in these domains.

But some countries will be able to take advantage of this labor market crisis, experts say. Poland, Romania, and Italy will be able to keep up with their highly skilled workforce, which is usually looking for work in other European countries.

Almost all European countries face problems in their labor markets. But Spain and Italy are in the most difficult situation, with their unemployment at 16.1 percent and 10.2 percent, respectively.
