Free News website, owned by National Assembly deputy speaker Alen Simonyan's wife Mariam Margaryan, had won the right to broadcast in Yerevan in a telecommunication license competition this year, writes Yerkir.am of Armenia.

It was clear from the very beginning that an administrative resource had been used to obtain it, as this website was not only newly opened and did not stand out with anything, but also did not have enough staff. It even turned out that the documents on its financial means were incomplete and not convincing.

It was announced that they will make a serious financial investment to make Free News a TV channel. However, according to the information received by Yerkir.am, less than five months later, Alen Simonyan has sold all the rights of this TV channel to Ara Abrahamyan, Chairman of the Union of Armenians of Russia.

It is obvious that Simonyan, using his official position and influence to get broadcasting license in his wife's name, sells it only a few months later—and making a profit.

According to the information received by Yerkir.am, that profit will be used for the election campaign expenses of the ruling Civil Contract Party.

Another noteworthy fact is outlined in this story. The government that has brought defeat and disaster to the country is selling what it has; that is, it is preparing to hand over power and maybe emigrate, or just to roam.
