Russian-Armenian relations have been tested over time. I have no doubt that they will continue to develop in the spirit of mutual trust, strategic partnership, and allied cooperation. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told this to Argumenty i Fakty  newspaper about this, when asked whether Russia has managed to maintain warm relations with Armenia, despite the recent Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) armed conflict’s unfavorable outcome for Armenia.

"Our country is always ready to support the brotherly Armenian people. Evidence of this are the mediation efforts of Russia, personally of President Putin, thanks to which it was managed to end the military confrontation in Nagorno-Karabakh in the fall of 2020, to launch the process of resolving the situation in the region.

Today it can be said that the trilateral agreements signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia on November 9, 2020 and January 11, 2021 are successfully implemented, in general. This refers, in particular, to the elimination of the humanitarian and socioeconomic consequences of the conflict, the unblocking of transport and economic ties in the South Caucasus. Russian support is highly appreciated by Armenian friends.

It is also important to understand that the relations between Russia and Armenia are not limited to the Karabakh issue. We have established an unprecedentedly active and trustworthy political dialogue at high and other levels," Lavrov said.

Also, the FM noted that Russia has supplied several dozen thousands of Sputnik V vaccines to Armenia to overcome the coronavirus pandemic. "We are discussing the issue of further support. We are successfully developing trade and economic ties, which is facilitated by the regular meetings of the co-chairs of the Russian-Armenian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation," Sergey Lavrov added.
