Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia Aram I and Russia’s Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Zasypkin discussed political processes in Syria, Blagovest reports referring to the press service of Great House of Cilicia.

Zasypkin briefed Aram I about Russia’s position on the Syrian unrest, stressing Russia does not share U.S. bellicose position on the Middle East. He also stressed Russia finds a balanced approach necessary to such delicate issues.

Aram I stressed the necessity for the improvement of situation in Syria. Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia welcomed the Syrian President’s recent address to his people.

“It is critically important to find an early solution to support the Christian community,” he added.

The sides also touched upon issues on formation of new Lebanese government. Aram I discussed the cooperation between Russian Orthodox and Armenian Apostolic Churches.
