YEREVAN. – We had a quite sincere and constructive discussion on all the issues that concern us. Speaker of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, stated this at Tuesday’s NA sitting, referring to his recent meeting in Moscow with chairman Vyacheslav Volodin of the Russian State Duma, and to the view that Russia is not fulfilling its obligations before its strategic ally Armenia in terms of overcoming the current crisis in Syunik Province involving Azerbaijani troops.

As per Mirzoyan, all efforts are made to draw the attention of the international community to this important issue. "Armenia has bilateral, multilateral international agreements related to security issues. And I do not believe that the allied countries of Armenia do not fulfill, or will not fulfill, their [respective] obligations. For example, the CSTO still has institutions, procedures, our conversation with Russia continues, and I believe we must keep the optimism," he said.

According to the Armenian parliament speaker, the international community and Armenia should make efforts to resolve this situation and restore Armenia’s territorial integrity as soon as possible. “Such difficult issues are not always resolved with lightning speed, and sometimes cool-headedness and patient work is more effective and desirable," Ararat Mirzoyan added.
