YEREVAN. – The Ministry of Defense (MOD) of Azerbaijan has disseminated a communiqué accusing Armenia’s Armed Forces of firing on the combat positions of the Azerbaijani armed forces, from Monday to Wednesday; the MOD of Armenia on Wednesday noted this in a statement.
The statement also says that it is obvious that this communiqué is another miserable attempt to cover up Azerbaijan’s recent provocations against the sovereign territories of Armenia and Tuesday’s killing of Junior Sergeant Gevorg Khurshudyan, a contract serviceman of the Armenian Armed Forces.
Moreover, it is noteworthy that according to this communiqué, the Armenian side has been firing on the Azerbaijani positions for three days already, but the Azerbaijan MOD has decided to speak about it only today.
The communiqué of the Azerbaijan MOD stated also that the Azerbaijani positions were fired also in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), in the direction of Shushi town. But the command of the Russian contingent carrying out a peacekeeping mission in Artsakh informed the Armenian MOD that no shots were fired in that direction either.
The MOD of Armenia states that the Armenian Armed Forces did not fire at all at Azerbaijan in the mentioned days.
The MOD of Armenia reiterates that the Azerbaijani encroachments on the sovereign territories of Armenia are absolutely inadmissible, and demands Azerbaijan to leave the territory of Armenia immediately; otherwise, reserving the right to resolve the issue by any means, including the use of force.
